Trend 2: Pastel Eyes
"The collection was inspired by rich Bohemia, so I added a pop of pastel to the eyes," Erin Parsons, Maybelline New York's global makeup artist, said of the look. She played off the sorbet-colored sets at Alice + Olivia's Spring/Summer 2020 show using Maybelline's Eyestudio ColorTattoo Metal 24HR Cream Gel Eyeshadow.
Trend 3: Sunkissed Bronzer
“I love to layer bronzer and highlighter together to create a natural, lived-in look – playing with shadow & light to create depth & definition. It’s all about enhancing your natural features, rather than covering them, that’s what the Brock girl is all about," Gucci Westman says of the "romantic-yet-undone" beauty look she created using Westman Atelier's Super Loaded Peau De Soleil.
Trend 4: 4-D Stiletto Nails
CND design lab artist Tracey Lee created the ultimate slim and sleek shape for The Blonds SS20 Moulin Rouge-inspired show. Each nail look, which was painted with CND's Vinylux polishes, paid homage to the most iconic Moulin Rouge scenes and characters and, just like The Blonds collection designs, invited your imagination to run wild.
Trend 6: Graphic Eyeliner
The models at Cynthia Rowley's SS20 show each rocked a floral design on their eyes using a white liner. You can recreate the look using Stila's Stay All Day Waterproof Liquid Eye Liner, which has the perfect fine marker-like tip and smudge-free formula to nail those loop de loops.
Trend 7: Rock & Roll Eyes
UOMA Beauty's Black Magic Palettes and Afro.Dis.Iac Liquid Eyeliner were used to create the stunning eye moments for the LaQuan Smith and Pyer Moss SS20 shows. “The key to the right gold is using one with a lot of yellow in it. The UOMA Beauty Allure palette has a gold that gives off more light and reflection," makeup lead Daniel Sallstrom said.
Trend 8: Negative Space Nails
“We were inspired by Ulla’s stunning color palette of mossy greens and terracottas, as well as her creative use of gradual flows of colors," Paintbox creative director Mabelyn Martin said, who used the brand's new Nail Lacquers in Like Desire and Like Wild. "Creating a partial outline of the nail with this curvy design gives the nails a sexy edge by exposing the natural nail while slightly framing it with a rich pop of color. Natural hand movements reveal both bare shine and an unexpected graphic detail."
Trend 9: "Ribbon" Ponytails
Sleek ponytails dominated the Kyle + Shahida SS20 runway thanks to the ghd Platinum+ Black Styler. Lead hairstylist Kenna Kennor used the styler to get the hair really sleek and shiny, then strategically sectioned the strands to create the intricate pony.
Trend 10: Dressed Up Eyes
Every model that walked the Marc Jacob SS20 runway had a unique look tailored to their own personality, ranging from smokey eyes, to bedazzled features, and a healthy glow. Lead makeup artist Pat McGrath drew inspiration from the show's dress-up theme and used products like the Velvet Noir Major Volume Mascara, See-quins Glam Glitter Eyeshadow, Highliner Gel Eye Crayon Eyeliner from Marc Jacobs Beauty to nail each look. "It’s really about the characters, everyone being different and having fun," she said.
Trend 12: Glossy Lids
Makeup lead Diane Kendal got creative to achieve the models' deconstructed glossy lids for the Proenza Schouler SS20 show. She applied the Tattoo Studio Sharpenable Gel Pencil Longwear Eyeliner across models’ lids and then tapped the brand's Baby Lips Moisturizing Lip Balm in Quenched, which was also used for the lips. Kendal then blotted away some of the pigment with a tissue for a “worn in and diffused” effect.
Trend 14: 90s Natural Grunge
Fenty Beauty global makeup artists Priscilla Ono and Hector Espinal embodied two major beauty trends that defined the 90s for the Matthew Adams Dolan SS20 show: natural and grunge. The looks centered around a perfected matte complexion and either featured feathered brows and a nude lip or a dark lip (done using the Mattemoiselle Plush Matte Lipstick in F’n Black) with smudged liner.
