It's been a decade since we said bye, bye, bye, to NSYNC as a boy band, and honestly, we haven't been the same since. Can any pop group truly compare? Well, it looks like you have an excuse to pull out your Jheri curl Justin posters once again, because the iconic five-some may be joining forces in the very near future. Deep breaths, deep breaths.
Rumors began circulating when Joey Fatone told TMZ Sports that NYSYNC could perform at the Super Bowl this year. But before you get too excited, it all appears very hypothetical. In order for the performance to happen, Justin would have to sign on with the halftime show and ask his bandmmates to join him - neither of which have been confirmed yet.
"We've done the Super Bowl before.. you know what, it's one of those things," Fatone told reporters in an airport. "Just like we did the MTV awards... You know, if someone asks to do it, if it's right, then we do it. If everybody can't do it, then we don't do it. It's pretty simple."
"Hope there's no nip slip this time, " he also joked, referring to the infamous "wardrobe malfunction" from Justin's 2004 halftime performance.
According to Us Weekly, Justin is currently "finalizing the deal" to headline the big game. But even if the rumors are true, the insider also told the magazine that "as of right now, it will just be Justin — no surprise performers." Tears.
It seems like Joey's latest statements are only wishful thinking, but we can't blame him for putting the idea out there. I mean imagine all the fist-bumping and pivot turn potential! We honestly don't know if our 90s hearts could handle such a treat.
