It’s always hard to pinpoint which trends are going to be big and which are going to fizzle out, especially in the fashion world where everything is constantly changing. That’s why you just have to sit back and wait for the trends to reveal themselves. After weeks of studying the runways at Fashion Week and checking in to see what our favorite bloggers and street style fashionistas to see what the next big outfit trend will be, and they have spoken; menswear is the next big trend.
“Over the past several seasons, it’s become quite apparent that fashion girls have abandoned overtly sexy outfits in favor of oversize, athletic, and menswear-inspired looks,” says Allyson Payer of Who What Wear. “Throughout the most recent fashion month, we couldn’t help but notice one fashion insider after another donning covered-up, oversize, and masculine-inspired outfits instead of tight, skin-baring ones.”
So, it looks like outfits like bodycon dresses and extreme crop tops with low-rise jeans are out! It’s time to make room for menswear!
The trend also allows for the wearer to get creative and add feminine touches to the look. You can opt for an oversized sweater and pair it a form-fitting skirt and a blazer. Or, dress up your jeans and trench coat with some vibrant accessories like kitten heel mules, earrings, and clutches.
From being a model, philanthropist, and mom, to building safe parks, educational programs, and family support centers for children with special needs — one can't help but wonder how @natasupernova fits everything into 24 hours. She attributes it all to her upbringing. Raised by a single mother who struggled to put food on the table, she was responsible for caring for her younger sister Oksana, born with autism and cerebal palsy. "It was hard," she recalls, "but Oksana has been the light of our lives." When she wasn't caring for her sister, she sold fruit at a street cart until she was discovered at age 17. Her rise was to success was so fast, she earned the nickname “Supernova” and it stuck ever since. Swipe for more from the supermodel in our March issue. | Photographs by @chriscolls
