Prince Harry, 39, may have found out about King Charles‘ prostate diagnosis from the media rather than members of his own family or Buckingham Palace staff, according to various reports.

According to a report from The Telegraph, Buckingham Palace did “make efforts” to inform all senior members of the royal family about the King’s enlarged prostate diagnosis, which he discovered following a check-up earlier in the week, before releasing a statement to the world. This reportedly also “included relaying a message to Prince Harry.”

However, the publication noted that, to their understanding, Prince Harry may not have actually found out before the news was made public, which could partly be due to the time difference. A January 18th Telegraph article notes: “The public announcement was made at 3.25pm UK time, which is 7.25am in California, and it is thought the Duke may have seen the news alerts before any private message.”

This appears to be very similar to the way in which he reportedly discovered that his grandmother, the late Queen Elizabeth II, had passed away on September 8th, 2022, as her death was announced while he was on a plane to Scotland.

A source reportedly told Page Six at the time: "No one from the royal family, or any courtiers, actually called Harry to tell him of the monarch's death, leaving him to find out from news reports when he landed late in the afternoon."

King Charles Reportedly Shared His Diagnosis To Encourage Other Men To Get Checked

The official announcement from Buckingham Palace on Wednesday, January 17th revealed that King Charles, 75, is set to undergo a "corrective procedure" for an enlarged prostate "next week." It's believed that the palace wanted to get the news out there as soon as possible, to let the world know that he had to reschedule some of his upcoming meetings and appearances.

The statement read: "In common with thousands of men each year, the King has sought treatment for an enlarged prostate. His Majesty's condition is benign and he will attend hospital next week for a corrective procedure." The statement also revealed that the King's "public engagements will be postponed for a short period of recuperation."

A palace source reportedly told NBC News that the monarch "was keen to share the details of his diagnosis to encourage other men who may be experiencing symptoms to get checked, in line with public health advice."

Prince Harry And Meghan Markle Send Their Well Wishes To King Charles And Kate Middleton

The news of King Charles' prostate diagnosis came the same day it was announced that Kate Middleton, 42, had undergone planned abdominal surgery. She is reportedly still at the London Clinic hospital in Marylebone, and is expected to stay there for up to two weeks before continuing her recovery at Adelaide Cottage in Windsor. She isn't expected to return to public duties until after Easter.

Prince Harry and Meghan Markle, 42, have reportedly reached out to the King and the Princess of Wales to offer their well wishes. Is this their way of extending an olive branch despite reportedly finding out the news at the same time as the rest of the world?

An insider reportedly told The Mirror: "The King and the Princess of Wales have received support from Prince Harry and Meghan regarding their health. The Duke and Duchess contacted both parties in different ways to pass on their concern and best wishes."
