Queen Elizabeth Doesn't Approve
Despite Meghan and Harry's steadfast belief that they kept a warm relationship with the Queen, even naming their daughter "Lilibet" after the Queen's childhood nickname, it seems like Elizabeth told a different story. Royal historian Sally Bedell Smith recently published her conversations with the Queen's late cousin and close friend, Lady Elizabeth Anson, and the revelations certainly don't point to a warm relationship.
According to the historian, Queen Elizabeth "saw right through" Meghan Markle and her absurd claims of racism and bullying within the royal family. "It was out of character for the Queen, but she saw straight through Meghan. At the drinks before the dinner, a small group were talking to the monarch and she explained that Harry meeting Meghan had become a 'complete catastrophe.'"
Queen Elizabeth Has Regrets
To make matters worse, this took place in the last years of the Queen's life. "By this point," she continyed, "we all knew the Queen's health was in decline and she had months left; she seemed regretful about how things had panned out."
While Meghan appeared to be "full of charm" and "natural, intelligent, and thoughtful" initially, Anson revealed that following her engagement to Prince Harry in 2017, it was like a switch flipped, and her "bossy" behavior took the lead, making Queen Elizabeth "very worried."
