Reba McEntire just weighed in on Kelly Clarkson’s messy split from ex-husband Brandon Blackstock as the proceedings continue over a year after the singer initially filed for divorce back in June 2020. McEntire, who is Blackstock’s stepmother and was married to his father, Narvel Blackstock from 1989-2015, had nothing but well-wishes for each half of the estranged couple as they worked to settle the messy situation.

Speaking in an interview for Extra last Friday, McEntire responded to a question about whether she was able to offer any advice to her friend Clarkson about getting through a divorce. McEntire responded, "You know, I love them both, Brandon's my stepson, Kelly's my good friend and I'm pulling for both of them. I hope they're happy and healthy and pull through this."

The 66-year-old country singer then added, "I pray that everybody gives them the encouragement that they can because they need it right now, both of them. I love them both with all my heart." Speaking to Entertainment Tonight on Monday, McEntire weighed in on the situation again, saying, "Kelly and I do talk, we text and I love them both, and so I can't play favorites because I've been a friend of Kelly for a long time."

After more than a year from when Clarkson officially filed for divorce, the singer was finally declared a single woman in August. In July, Clarkson pleaded that the court push through the divorce, as both she and her ex-husband "deserve the opportunity to build a new life." However, the former couple are still working through issues with the ownership of their respective belongings.

Earlier this month a judge ruled that Clarkson was the true owner of the Montana ranch that Blackstock has been living in since the separation, after the 44-year-old music producer contested that since it was purchased while the pair were still married, it was "marital property." The judge denied this line of thinking, awarding Clarkson the Montana ranch which the singer is reportedly "thrilled" about.
