Ree Drummond Details Some Of The Things She Did Not Do To Lose 60 Lbs.
The 56-year-old cooking and lifestyle guru lost 60 lbs. back in 2021, and opened up about some of the ways she did so, as well as some of the thing she did *not* do on her blog.
Although she made it clear that she didn't use weight loss injections because she didn't even know they were a thing, she clarified that she won't judge those who do. "I know they have been an absolute godsend for so many people. I have friends who've experienced incredible results," she wrote on her blog last year.
Also on her blog, she confirmed that she didn't do Keto because "it never worked after the initial 10-15 pounds. Plus, it made me dread avocados, which I always loved." Nor did she do Intermittent Fasting, as she said it "caused me to gorge during my eating window."
She also confirmed that she didn't buy specialty diet foods or join a weight loss program, saying: "I know I am not good with programs, logging, checking in, and so forth." So now that we know some of the things she didn't do, we can move onto some of the things she *did* do to slim down!
What Did Ree Drummond Do To Achieve Her Epic 60-Lb Weight Loss Transformation?
Ree explained that eating in a calorie deficit really helped her shed the pounds, and said she used the help of an online calculator to try and track them. "I'd completely lost track of the calories I was consuming on a daily basis, so it was very helpful to get a handle on what I was looking at," she wrote on her blog.
She also said that using a digital scale helped her weigh and portion her food correctly, adding: "It really woke me up to the portions I had grown accustomed to eating!"
Now that she has lost weight, she explained that she doesn't use the online calculator, and instead credits eating smaller portions with maintaining her current weight. "Today, I'm eating all the foods I love, but my body is satisfied with much less of it," she confirmed, before noting that she doesn't use the digital scales either, as she has a better idea of what the right portion sizes look like.
"I was glad I'd been so strict for that first stage, because it wound up being a nice crash course that equipped me going forward. Starting out with that discipline actually allowed me more freedom later in the process," she confessed.
What Exercise Does Ree Drummond Do?
Ree also credited the importance of exercise with her weight loss transformation, telling readers: "I exercised six days a week. Sometimes twice a day (morning walk, evening rowing machine), sometimes just once."
She explained that it is still part of her daily routine, regardless of how busy she is, adding: "I learned that making time each day to exercise simply had to be done. During the past few months, I just chose to be late on a deadline or put off work until the next day so that exercise could happen. It was a simple shift in mindset, but it was important!"
Ree Drummond Praises Strength Training
Exercise for Ree looks like a whole host of different things, from walking her dogs to doing Pilates and more. However, she seemed to find strength training the most beneficial at the beginning of her health and fitness journey.
"I had zero strength in my lower body and my legs trembled and gave out. And I couldn't walk for the first few days," Ree recalled. However, it's a different story now, as she said: "It feels good (as someone who isn't a spring chicken) to actually see and feel new muscles in my body."
She can't stop praising strength training, as she also added: "I can't emphasize this enough: Building muscle, not just the smaller muscles in your arms, but the larger muscles in your legs and butt, will turbo charge your weight loss like nothing else and set you up for more success." The more you know!
