Suns out, sunglasses out! If you’re like me, you wear sunglasses all year around but since it’s finally hot outside with the sun blazing, everyone is busting out their sunglasses. Some people prefer designer glasses while some opt for cheaper ones. Either way, nothing is worse than finding a scratch on your favorite pair. Whether your sunglasses are worth $200 or $12, this trick will get rid of the scratches. No more tossing out your favorite pair just because it touched sand on the beach!

Baking soda, car wax, and toothpaste are the solutions to your problem! Before doing anything, clean your glasses so there’s no dirt or dust on them. Then, put on disposable gloves for handling baking soda. Put one to two tablespoons of baking soda into a small bowl with a couple teaspoons of water. Mix to make a thick paste. Next, smear the thick paste all over the glasses, not just on the scratches. Gently polish the lenses in small, circular motions. Rinse the glasses and then repeat. Keep doing this until you can no longer see the scratches.

What if the scratches don’t seem to go away? This is where the toothpaste comes in. Instead of water, mix a couple tablespoons of baking soda with a couple tablespoons of toothpaste. Both of these products contain micro abrasives, which should work together to eliminate those scratches. Repeat this step as many times as needed.

To finish off, apply half a teaspoon of car wax to a clean cloth. Wipe the car wax on the lenses and buff in circular motions. This should help to further remove any tiny scratches or marks on the glasses. Now, your sunglasses should be as good as new!
