The separation of Joe Jonas and Sophie Turner has escalated due to a recent lawsuit. According to sources close to the duo, more details have emerged regarding the cause of their dramatic fallout. Last month, the singer, 34, and actress, 27, announced their divorce, and TMZ released a vague report soon after, suggesting that Jonas witnessed something involving a ring camera, which ultimately solidified his decision to end the relationship.

At the time, the outlet wrote that “Joe had access to a ring cam that he said captured Sophie saying and/or doing something that made him realize the marriage was over.” Last week, an insider recently dished to Us Weekly in their new cover story that “nobody thought things would get this nasty between Joe and Sophie.” They added: “Friends are hopeful they can be mature for the sake of the kids, but neither one is going to acquiesce to the other. This could go on for a very long time.”

When it comes to the reason behind their split, the source said: “Sophie didn’t want to always be ‘the Jonas brother’s wife.’ She didn’t want to go on tour and do everything together. It’s not her personality, and she wanted to keep their family separate from all the Jonas Brothers hoopla.”

And regarding the ring cam footage, the insider noted that Jonas allegedly saw Turner speaking unfavorably about him to a friend. The insider emphasized that the video did not reveal anything beyond this, but it appears to have been the tipping point for the Jonas Brothers member. “It wasn’t anything more than that, but that was the final straw,” they explained.

How Joe Jonas & Sophie Turner's Split Became So Dramatic, According To Sources

*Another* source who spoke to Us Weekly also pointed out that "being a mom on the road is not easy, even when you have unlimited resources." They added that "It was just hard for [Jonas and Turner] to settle into a regular routine because of Joe’s career especially." An *additional* insider said to the publication that "Sophie says Joe was too controlling. She also said Joe liked to flirt a little too much while out in public, but then he wouldn’t like it when she would get too close to her male friends. It was clear their marriage was crumbling."

According to this source, the two are solely communicating through their respective legal representatives. "Sophie is focused on motherhood, coparenting her girls with Joe and her work projects, in that order," they continued. "She didn’t plan on being a single mom, but that’s what’s happening, so she’s making the best of it."

And...wait for it... Us Weekly reported that *one other insider* said that Turner's two sister-in-laws (Priyanka Chopra Jonas and Danielle Jonas) are "being supportive of both of them. It’s a difficult time. They’re very busy, but wish Sophie and Joe the best in working it out."

Jonas and Turner began dating in 2016 and tied the knot in 2019. They share two daughters; Willa, 3, and Delphine, 1. In a ruling made by a Manhattan federal judge on October 3rd, the ex-couple are slated to appear in court at the start of next year to resolve a custody dispute concerning their two young children.

The date for the trial has been scheduled for January 2nd, following a hearing at a Manhattan federal court in which Turner filed an emergency lawsuit against her estranged partner. The lawsuit aims to secure the return of her two kids to her native country of England, which Turner considers their "forever home."

On September 6th, Jonas and Turner shared a joint statement to their Instagram pages. "After four wonderful years of marriage we have mutually decided to amicably end our marriage," They wrote. "There are many speculative narratives as to why but, truly this is a united decision and we sincerely hope that everyone can respect our wishes for privacy for us and our children," they added.

According to Billboard, on September 5th, Jonas initiated divorce proceedings in Miami-Dade County, Florida, claiming that the marriage was irreparably damaged. In the court documents, he stated that "the marriage between the parties is irretrievably broken.”
