Rumer Willis Gives Fans An Update On Bruce Willis' Health In A New Instagram Story

Bruce Willis' life took a complete turn between 2022 and 2023, when his family revealed that he had not only been diagnosed with asphasia and dementia, but also frontotemporal dementia, a condition known to cause a decline in the frontal and temporal lobes of the brain, eventually leading to changes in personality, behavior, and language.

Since then, the action star retired from his successful and famous acting career and began getting taken care of by his healthcare team as well as his supporting family, consisting of his wife, Emma, his ex-wife, Demi Moore, and his three adult daughters, Rumer, Scout, and Tallulah. Many of his loyal fans continue to worry about him as his inner circle slowly releases updates on his condition.

This week, his eldest, Rumer, sat down to do a little question-and-answer session on her Instagram story, where at one point, a fan asked how her dad was doing.

"People always ask me this question, and I think it's kind of a hard one to answer because the truth is that anybody with FTD is not doing great," she said, as reported by People. "But he's doing okay in terms of somebody who's dealing with frontotemporal dementia, you know what I mean?"

Rumer Willis Says She Still Sees A 'Spark' In Her Dad When She Visits Him

In a follow-up clip on her story, the 37-year-old opened up even more about what it's like these days to visit her father, as the nature of their visits says a lot about the state of his condition. Rumer mentioned that she is still "happy and grateful" that she gets to have consistent visits and "hug" her dad.

"The answer that I would give is I'm so happy and grateful that I still get to go and hug him," she explained. "I'm so grateful that when I go over there and I give him a hug, whether he recognizes me or not, he can feel the love I've given him, and I can feel it back from him."

This is not the first time a member of the 70-year-old's family has brought up his occasional inability to remember people's identities, noting in various interviews that there are times when he does recognize them, and other times when he doesn't know who they are.

Despite it all, the Dancing With The Stars champion reassured her dad's fanbase by letting them know she still sees glimpses of his personality from time to time, especially when she brings over her toddler, his granddaughter, Louetta.

"[I'm so happy] that I still see a spark of him and he can feel the love that I'm giving, and so that feels really nice," she continued. "Yeah, I just feel grateful that I get to go over there with Louetta, and we get to spend time with him, and I get to feel the love that he has for me and that he puts out for me, and that I can love him and be with him."
