It’s no secret that salads are one of the healthiest lunch and dinner meals when you’re trying to lose weight. The best part about salads is that you can constantly switch up their ingredients any day of the week. Luckily, your taste buds are bound to never get bored if you get creative with your leafy greens. In addition to that, you can add a ton of flavor to your salads with a little dressing here and there.

Before you go dumping on your favorite condiment, however, you need to be mindful of how much dressing you’re pouring out. Many dressings can secretly have a lot of loaded fats and calories in them. Just a quarter cup of ranch for example can have up to 220 calories and 22 grams of fat. However, you don’t need to give up on the quest to find healthy dressings just yet. Thankfully, there are some lighter condiments that will add flavor to your salads while also boosting along weight loss results.

Olive oil with lemon is one of the best dressings you can add to just about any greens. According to personal trainer Tony Larkman, olive oil is considered a healthy addition to salads, vegetables or wholegrains. Olive oil is rich in good fats called monounsaturated fats.

When olive oil is paired with lemon it creates a powerful weight loss dressing. Many websites actually recommend doing an olive oil and lemon water cleanse for weight loss. Both olive oil and lemon have amazing health benefits. According to Healthline, lemons help control weight. Lemons can be used in a variety of ways for weight loss benefits. You can add lemon juice to water or simple salad dressings, like an olive oil dressing.

Healthline further recommends making a lemon vinaigrette dressing for your salads. All you need is some olive oil, fresh lemon juice, honey or maple syrup for optional sweetness, and some salt and pepper. According to this Healthline recipe, this dressing has just 128 calories, 3 grams of carbs, and 13.5 grams of fat.
