The One Salad You Should Never Order At McDonald’s

October 11, 2017 by SheFinds Health

McDonald's isn't the healthiest place to grab a bite to eat, but there are definitely some healthy hacks you can use to make your Mickey D's a little nicer to your waistline. But, before you go and order the first salad you see, you're going to want to make sure that it's not the Southwest Buttermilk Crispy Chicken Salad. Trust us on this one...

Though this salad may seem like a healthier option compared to some of Mickey D's other menu items, the Southwest Buttermilk Crispy Chicken Salad manages to sneak in a lot of unhealthy calories and fat. It weighs in at 520 calories, 25 grams of fat, and 46 grams of carbs

Wow! Where do all of these unhealthy numbers come from? Well, the main protein in the salad is McDonald's crispy chicken fillet, which gets its 300 calories and signature crisp from unhealthy breadings and the deep-frier. Then, it gets topped with the Cilantro Lime Glaze dressing, which adds 50 calories, and the Chili Lime Tortilla Strips, which add 35 calories.

If it's hard for you to part ways with the Southwest Buttermilk Crispy Chicken salad, don't worry; there are are hacks you can use to modify it to make the salad healthier. Mashed recommends swapping the crispy chicken for grilled chicken to get rid of some of those unhealthy calories and fats.

Good to know! We'll definitely use this hack the next time we're in the mood for the Southwest Buttermilk Crispy Chicken Salad from Mickey D's!
