The One Product You Should NEVER Use Because It Causes Thinning Hair

Hair loss is a condition that affects everyone at one point or another. Most people know that thinning hair can be the result of hormones, genetics, diet, and lifestyle, but most fail to realize that the products they use can also be causing hair fall. This is especially the case when it comes to shampoo as the popular cleansing product is often made with harmful ingredients and chemicals that have been found to cause hair loss.

Which shampoos should you be avoiding to prevent hair loss? Experts say it’s best to steer clear of formulas that contain sulfates because of their damaging effects on the hair strands.

Sulfates, formally known as Sodium Lauryl Sulfate (SLS), are used in many commercial shampoos because of their strong cleansing properties that allow it to help strip away dirt, oil, and other impurities from the strands.

They're also used as a means to create a rich lather, which is needed to assist its cleansing efforts.

Despite its success as a cleanser, researchers have found that sulfates can have a damaging effect on the hair. Studies show that SLS penetrates the skin barrier and degenerates the cell membrane and proteins on your scalp.

How does this play into hair loss? Well, protein is the building block for healthy hair and is needed to promote stronger strands and prevent breakage and hair fall. By depleting your scalp's proteins and protective membranes, you're basically causing your hair to weaken and fall out.

Hair care experts also say that SLS can also cause hair loss because of its harsh oil-stripping abilities.

Your hair produces natural oils that are needed to act as a natural moisturizer for the strands and keep them protected. If these oils get stripped away too much or too often, the resulting dryness can result in hair breakage and loss.

Wondering what other ingredients should be avoided when it comes to your shampoo? Unfortunately, there are a lot of them that can cause hair loss. Here are the big ones that you should definitely keep out of your daily hair care routine:

-Propylene Glycol

-Diethanolamine (DEA)

-Imidazolidinyl Urea

-Sodium Chloride
