Sofia Vergara Walked Off The ‘America’s Got Talent’ Stage After Howie Mandel Made This Joke About Her Divorce

During a recent episode of America’s Got Talent, Howie Mandel made a joke about Sofia Vergara‘s newly single status which did not go over well. Last week, while sitting on a throne of tater tots sponsored by Sonic, fellow judge Simon Cowell asked Vergara to take a lie detector test.

Throughout the test, the actress, 51, was accused of lying, except when asked about her preference for working on AGT over Modern Family. However, when Mandel, 67, asked if there was anyone in the audience that Vergara was “interested in,” she replied in jest before walking back to her seat, removing the arm cuff.

Vergara fired back: “That’s it!” to Mandel’s joke. Vergara recently split from ex Joe Manganiello, who initiated divorce proceedings in July following seven years of marriage.

Mandel has previously alluded to Vergara and Manganiello’s breakup. The Deal or No Deal host sparked controversy online when he referred to Vergara as “single” while addressing an AGT contestant last month.

He told Entertainment Tonight at the time: “I was helping Sofia!” He also dished to the publication that “people were killing him” after his joke went viral. Mandel confessed: “People said it was too soon and it was tasteless.”

He stressed, however, that Vergara forgave him and found it all to be comical as intended. “She came over and she thought it was funny. She [said it was] good [and said] how much she wants that,” Mandel said. (No bad blood here!)

Vergara and Manganiello publicly announced the dissolution of their relationship through a joint statement to Page Six in the previous month. They wrote: “We have made the difficult decision to divorce. As two people that love and care for one another very much, we politely ask for respect of our privacy at this time as we navigate this new phase of our lives.”
