We all have different ways of getting ourselves energized in the morning, but for most of us it usually involves a good old-fashioned cup of coffee.
With summer in full swing, there’s no better way to get your caffeine fix than with a refreshing iced coffee from Starbucks. Or, maybe your go-to chain is Caffe Nero and Costa Coffee if you’re from the U.K. Either way, there’s no wrong choice when it comes to your morning cup of joe… or is there?
There are some shocking findings that prove there’s a disgusting ingredient floating around in your coffee. And unfortunately, it’s not an extra caramel shot. Trust us, it’s much, much worse. Newsweek reports that popular U.K. coffee chains Starbucks, Caffe Nero, and Costa have fecal bacteria in their iced drinks!
Let me give you a minute to compose yourself. This is so gross, right?
Studies found that 7 out of 10 samples of ice used in Costa Coffee drinks were contaminated with bacteria from human feces, while only 3 out of 10 samples from both Starbucks and Caffe Nero also tested positive.
A spokesman from Starbucks said it’s now conducting an investigation into these alarming claims, according to BBC News. A rep from Caffe Nero also said that a “thorough investigation" is under way and that the chain will take the "appropriate action" to correct this horrific discovery. Yikes! We hope this all gets sorted out soon!
