Eggs are a super healthy breakfast option–especially if you are trying to lose weight. Plus, they are a versatile ingredient that can be incorporated into a ton of different breakfast recipes. However, some are definitely more weight loss friendly than others.

If you are trying to lose weight, keep reading for the one ingredient you should definitely avoid when cooking eggs.

Processed Meat

Although the combination of bacon (or sausage) and eggs is a classic breakfast, its best to skip the processed meat when it comes to making eggs. Processed meats, like bacon and sausage, are extremely unhealthy, and it can take your health-conscious breakfast of eggs to an unhealthy level.

Specifically, because of their high salt and fat content, processed meats can hurt your overall health and make weight loss more difficult.

According to WebMd, "People who eat a lot of these [processed] meats are more likely to get heart disease, diabetes, and even certain kinds of cancer, thanks to all the salt, fat, and chemical preservatives."

With that in mind, if you are trying to be healthier, staying away from processed meats is a good start. Instead of adding bacon or sausage to your breakfast dish, sticking to the eggs themselves or adding some vegetables is a better choice.
