There’s no way to spot reduce fat on your body, but there is a tea that could help kickstart your metabolism and make it a little easier to burn calories and fat. It’s black tea!
"Black tea differs from other teas like green tea because it undergoes more oxidation," explains New York-based nutritionist Regina Fazzini. "There are several varieties of it available and studies show that those who drink it regularly found that it helped aid with weight loss and control."
It's true! Healthline reports that one study of 111 people found that drinking three cups of black tea each day for three months significantly increased weight loss and reduced waist circumference, compared to drinking a caffeine-matched control beverage.
Researchers believe that it's the tea's high flavone count that may be responsible for these results as they contain powerful antioxidants.
"A study followed 4,280 adults over 14 years. It found that those with a higher flavone intake from foods and beverages like black tea had a lower body mass index (BMI) than those with a lower flavone intake," according to Healthline.
"When combined with a healthy diet and regular exercise, there's no reason to believe that black tea could help with weight loss. It's a healthier drink alternative and contains metabolism-boosting antioxidants," Fazzini continues.
