Mornings are the most important time of the day, which is why fitness experts recommend filling the hours before work with energy-boosting activities that will help you start your day off on a productive note. After all, what you do in the morning does set the tempo for how the rest of your day will pan out!

In addition to squeezing in a quick workout or taking a break to meditate, nutritionists say that having a cup of tea can be a great way to begin your mornings. “Tea contains plenty of health benefits and has been proven to be a great drink for those who are weight conscious,” explains Regina Fazzini, a New York-based nutritionist. “Most blends feature antioxidants that combat inflammation and rev the metabolism to burn calories.”

Not sure which tea you should be drinking to help kick-start weight loss? Fazzini and other nutritionists say having a cup of green tea is a great place to start!

Green tea is considered one of the best teas for the metabolism. In fact, it can even help give you more energy if you have a cup before heading to the gym!

A recent 12-week study found that participants who combined a daily habit of 4-5 cups of green tea each day with a 25-minute sweat session lost an average of two more pounds than the non-tea-drinking exercisers in the study.

That's because green tea is loaded with fat-burning catechins, which are compounds that blast adipose tissue by triggering the release of fat from fat cells in the body and then speeding up the liver’s capacity for turning that fat into energy.
