The One Color That Makes You Look Younger, According To An Expert

January 4, 2017 by Sara Alderman

While dressing for yourself should always be the motto, wearing certain colors does influence how you're perceived by others. A black outfit makes you look smarter. according to a study, and a tan piece of clothing tricks people into thinking you're wearing something expensive. And if you're trying to look younger, there's a color you can wear for that too--what is it?

Kate Smith, president and chief color maven of Sensational Color, tells Who What Wear, "Turquoise is a color that brings out the glow in every skin tone." Even if you're not trying to necessarily dress "younger," glowy skin is something we can all get behind!

To find your perfect shade of turquoise, Smith recommends "turning over your arm and looking at the veins in your wrist." She explains, "If they look bluer or greener, then find a shade of turquoise that leans toward that color. If you have a medium-to-dark skin tone, just about any mid-tone turquoise will look great."
