The One Prepared Food You Should Never Buy At Whole Foods, According To An Employee

February 15, 2017 by Amanda Seale

Whole Foods has earned the title “America’s Healthiest Grocery Store,” and the reputation that goes along with it. What’s better than shopping without the guilt of harming your body or the environment? Probably a plethora of hot prepared foods, waiting to be piled into a container and scarfed up the second you get the chance. However, it turns out that your health can be at risk. The truth is all foods from the prepared section could be dangerous. According to an employee, “The prepared foods department is rather scary.” The problem with hot food bars is that the food sits out there for hours on end, possibly getting cold, which could become a petri dish for bacteria. “Employee rule is NEVER eat off that hot bar unless you microwave the hell out of it to kill any bacteria.” Make sure your food is actually hot from the prepared foods section or head straight to the microwave![Photo: Shutterstock]
It’s surprising how Whole Foods’ relatively high prices don’t even drive people away. But be careful, you can do major damage at the Whole Foods prepared food section. Be careful of what you’re dumping into containers. This POPSUGAR writer spent $14 on a small container of mashed potatoes! All in all, use the prepared foods section wisely and play it safe![Photo: Shutterstock]
