When you're eating out at a restaurant, the last thing you want to do is piss off your waiter--they can make or break your meal even though they're not making your food!
There's one thing that annoys restaurant waiters the most and it's something we likely all do. Most of us probably don't even notice we're doing this and just how rude it is!
Darron Cardosa, who started the blog The Bitchy Waiter based on his experience as a waiter, told The Daily Mail that one of the worst things a customer can do to a waiter is using their cell phone at the table.
"Can't you put your cellphone away for a half an hour so that servers can do their job without interrupting your phone call? Similarly, if you put your cellphone on the table you limit the area in which your food can be delivered, and expand the area on which fresh water might splash," he explained.
But Carron isn't the only waiter who feels this way. Reddit user synnnd, who has experience as both a hostess and waiter, posted in a forum, "As a hostess or server, I hate it when you come in, and expect me to decipher your gestures to where you rather sit or if you're ready to order. It's difficult for me to interrupt your important phone call."
Besides being on your phone when a server comes over, it's also annoying when it's just sitting on the table in general. Reddit user Sunny_ wrote in the same forum, "Leaving your cellphone on the table makes me on edge, I might spill something on it." Understandable!
Next time you're out to dinner, put the cell phone away! You're missing out on the dining experience of good food, and maybe some company, by burying your face in your phone.
