Anyone who frequently scrolls through BeautyTok or their Instagram feeds knows that when it comes to hair, makeup and manicure trends, 2023 is off to a great start! From mermaidcore nails to coquette makeup to graphic updo hairstyles, we rounded up ten chic, warm weather-friendly trends to look out for this spring.

We also checked in with hair, beauty and makeup experts to learn more about these looks sported by our favorite stylish celebs. Read on for tips, suggestions and insight from Ghanima Abdullah, cosmetologist and hair expert at The Right Hairstyles and Jamie Mazzei, creative director for NuBest Salon & Spa.

1. Wet Hair Look

You might already be well aware of Barbiecore as everyone seems to be wearing pink ahead of Greta Gerwig's summer 2023 Barbie flick starring Margot Robbie. Another 'core' trend to look out for, according to TikTokers and our fave red carpet looks, is 'mermaidcore.' The wet hair look, as seen on Zendaya, channels that epic 'day at the beach' wavy style and can be epically paired with seashell jewelry and other ocean-themed pieces.

2. Mother of Pearl Nails

As mermaidcore is currently all the rage right now, a perfect manicure to pair with the aforementioned seemingly wet hair would be a fellow nautical-themed look! This 'Mother of Pearl' nail trend, as noted by Glamour, is iridescent, mimics the shimmer of seashells, and is becoming more popular on TikTok by the minute. From glued-on pearl details to glitter and sparkles, there are so many ways to make this mani trend your own!

3. Coquette Makeup

Romantic, feminine and exquisite, "coquette" makeup is a popular look you might be catching on TikTok lately. With rosy eyeshadows, doe-eye liner, voluminous lashes and glossy pink pouts, this trend seems to emulate 18th and 19th century beauty looks and accessories, while also channeling 2010s twee Tumblr vibes. When thinking of spring-aligned makeup and style aesthetics, we suspect that it'll be hard to miss this one at picnics this season.

4. Copper Tresses

Copper is one of the trendiest hair colors for spring 2023, Mazzei explains, and it is versatile, as "every skin tone can wear red." Like here on Bridgerton star Phoebe Dynevor, reddish-brown tresses, Mazzei says, allows us to "enjoy the red trend without lightening our hair beyond brown and possibly causing damage." For warmer skin tones, he suggests a "red with orange undertones," as this is most complementary. For cooler skin, he recommends that "a red with blue undertones works well." Anyone with paler skin tones should "consider a lighter red or a strawberry blonde," he points out.

5. Chrome Manicures

As chosen by everyone from Dua Lipa to Zendaya to Hailey Bieber to accompany their sparkly red carpet get-ups, chrome manicures are undeniably in. Whether you opt for TikTok classics like gold or silver or a more Instagram-ready, spring-themed color like this stunning baby pink look, you really can't go wrong!

6. Y2K Deep Side Parts

Think early aughts-esque side parts are out? Think again! As Abdullah notes, a deep, Y2K-inspired part, as seen here on Sydney Sweeney, is not only currently trending, but a great way to "create more volume" by pushing more hair "to one side of your head." This parting is also an easy way to "change up" your look without doing anything too major, and worth a try, Abdullah notes, to "really bring on the glamor" for spring.

7. Face Gems

So much can be said about makeup trends taking inspiration from HBO's Euphoria, even long after its second season aired in early 2022. With scenes set under vibrant lighting and many characters sporting rhinestone stickers on their faces, the face gems trend can make you feel like a dazzling style icon at a party, any time. Jodie Turner-Smith sported this look at the 2023 BAFTAs, and to say we're obsessed would be an understatement.

8. Blush Nails

When envisioning spring color palettes, do rosy pinks come to mind? The enduring blush nails trend emulate facial blush, and resemble flushed cheeks and a radiant, dewy glow. On Instagram nail accounts, you're likely to come across this look, which often features a bubblegum pink hue, a shiny, glossy top coat and rounded, sharp and eye-catching tips.

9. Graphic Updos

At the 2023 Oscars, graphic updos were seemingly ubiquitous. What do we mean by this? These updos, like Florence Pugh's, were extra dazzling, ultra-voluminous and more eccentric than classic, Old Hollywood-esque styles we might usually see. Pugh's look resembled a reverse ponytail, which stood out among other typical top knots and high buns. She also made a case for micro bangs for bolder gals this spring!

10. Siren Eyes

This sultry, smudgy and smokey eyeliner effect— which many credit to be inspired by Alexa Demie’s Euphoria looks— is often complete with thicker, longer eyeliner as opposed to a regular cat-eye (the lines don’t just jut out from the end of one’s eye, but also include one at the inner corner as well). This look was very trendy last year and continues to endure in the early months of 2023. It features much darker eyeshadow and a more blended wing overall than your classic cat-eye might. Timeless!
