Victoria Beckham Opens Up About How She & David Grew Together During A Recent Interview
There are a handful of celebrity couples that seem stronger than ever and are famous for their long-term relationship, and the two Brits are one of them. During their breakthrough career eras, in the late 90s, they met and ended up getting engaged not long afterward. After marrying in 1999, they entered a whirlwind of both a relationship and a career journey.
Victoria admitted in her latest in-depth cover interview with Elle that for her and David, it was "completely love at first sight."
"He told me he went home and wrote my [telephone] number on so many other things in case he lost it," she recalled.
During her interview, she opened up about what she and her husband believe is the key to making a long-term relationship work. It's a rule that has to do with being open to growth.
"So often in relationships, one will say to the other, 'You've changed.' Well, of course you've changed!" the clothing brand icon told the publication.
"You're a different person when you're 20 than when you're 50. He believed in me when a lot of people didn't. He invested in me. At times I've been a laughingstock, people not taking my business seriously, but he always believed in me."
Victoria Recalls David's Cheating Allegations As The 'Hardest' Time In Their Relationship
Of course, not all couples can have a perfect life, and the famous pair were heavily affected when the soccer star's former personal assistant claimed the two of them had a casual affair in 2004. David did everything he could to deny it, but to this day, the ex-assistant has not changed her tune and insists it happened.
In her cover interview, the 51-year-old recalled the aftermath of the cheating allegations as one of the most challenging phases for her relationship.
"It was the hardest period for us, because it felt like the world was against us," she admitted, also explaining in a 2023 documentary that at the time, it felt like they were "against each other."
However, the couple persevered, moving on from the drama and continuing to work on their individually successful careers and parenting their four children. It looks like they're continuing to brush off any cheating allegations, and, like she said, staying set on growing alongside each other.
