Victoria Beckham can do no wrong when it comes to her style, but it looks like the designer is starting 2018 off with a major misstep. Beckham is being criticized for using a very thin model in her recent campaign for Victoria Beckham Eyewear. People were quick to call out the designer on Twitter, accusing her of promoting an unhealthy body image by using such a thin model, according to INSIDER.

Model Giedre Dukauskaite wore a striking pair of frames from Beckham’s upcoming Spring Summer 2018 collection in this now-viral campaign image, but all fans could notice was how thin she appears. Wall Street Journal columnist Amanda Foreman said she “looks like a teenager with severe anorexia” and suggested that the image could be damaging to young girls. Piers Morgan also chimed in on Twitter, condemning Beckham for “STILL using an emaciated model to sell her merchandise.”
Though others came to the model’s defense by saying that she’s naturally thin and shouldn't be attacked for it, it seems that everyone is still disappointed with Beckham’s decision. “This model may be naturally slim and she is beautiful! However using models that are this thin creates an unrealistic goal for most girls and is highly irresponsible” Twitter use @sallyhelston wrote.
“This is an irresponsible way to promote your product. This model may be naturally this thin. She may not be. But the young girls who watch you will try to emulate the look, and it is not natural for most of them. Shame on you,” @karynleigh tweeted.
Neither Beckham nor representatives from her brand have commented on the backlash, but we hope that VB will feature models of all different sizes in her future campaigns.
