We follow plenty of celebrities on Instagram, but there’s one star that’s noticeably absent from all the social media fun: Jennifer Aniston. The Friends star got candid about her outlook on social media with InStyle for its October issue, revealing whether or not she’d ever join in.
Aniston said that she has no plans to make an Instagram or Twitter, but did shed some light on the toll social media is starting to take on the younger generation. She "worries about the damaging effects of social media on young people figuring out their identity."
"They're doing it through someone else's lens, which has been filtered and changed…and then it's 'like me, don't like me, did I get liked?' There's all this comparing and despairing," Aniston told the magazine.
She also opened up about her own experiences growing up and how sh's thankful social media wasn't around when she was trying to navigate her way before landing Friends.
"When I was younger, I was in hell," she told the magazine in reference to her curly locks. "I tried every product known to man." Before her breakout role in Friends at 25, she had been on six other TV shows. "I waitressed for years in New York before I got anything. And I was a telemarketer selling time-shares in the Poconos. I didn't make one sale. I was terrible at it. I was like, 'Why do we have to call people at dinnertime?'"
