Juggling a career and a social life often means meeting up with friends the second you leave work. After all, who has time to go home, change your outfit, touch up your makeup and still get to the restaurant on time?

Of course, there’s nothing wrong with showing up to a casual, after work get-together with friends dressed in business casual attire, but there are other options. Yes, you really can pull off a work-appropriate ensemble that also happens to be cool enough for hanging at a bar during cocktail hour. Need proof? Check out the three outfits below that are appropriate and professional for when you’re at the office, but can easily work for a night out, too.

Pair a printed blouse with black pants for during the day, and then add a moto jacket and a red lip for a ‘going out’ look at night.

Just because a dress is more fitted, doesn’t mean you can’t wear it to work. Layer this dress with a blazer during the day and then ditch it at night. If you’re feeling fancy, add a fun necklace or statement earrings.

Nothing says workwear quite like the classic pencil skirt. Style this staple with a fun blouse for office hours, then when it’s time to leave, roll up the sleeves, unhook a button or two and add a choker necklace.
