Designer Discovery: OK47
June 7, 2005
For perfect no-fuss summer clothing that doesn’t sacrifice comfort or style, check out the current line by Canadian label OK47. Each piece is cut from summer-friendly fabrics cotton and rayon with a hint of lycra thrown in for added comfort and mobility, and the creative graphics adorning them stand out among the plethora of whimsical silkscreens that are everywhere these days. Created in 2000 by fashion designer Jen Lindup and graphic design whizzes Alex and Felix Wittholz, OK47 aims to give “an alternative to the cookie-cutter offerings of mainstream fashion.†That goal translates into very wearable pieces with attention-getting designs and details that don’t go overboard. My favorite examples of this from their summer line are the Scissor Wrap dress and the Peacock Boatneck top. Find your favorites at paper-doll.com.
