I don't know how many of you caught the Emmys on Sunday, but if you did you probably noticed the Macy's commercial with celebs like Jessica Simpson, Martha Stewart and Donald Trump. I was half-watching the show and caught a glimpse of the commercial (was it me or did it seem like it came on at every break?), but I'll be honest: I had no idea it was a Macy's ad.
Part of that might have been that I wasn't really watching, but I think it also has to do with the fact that I tend to tune celebrities selling stuff out. The whole point of the commercial was that the celebs were making fun of themselves while promoting their brand — Macy's is hoping the new star-studded ads will boost business given the new stores it acquired from May Company.
But I have to ask, do you think it will work? Having seen the commercial I don't feel any more inclined to run down to the insanity that is Macy's Herald Square (but that's a whole other issue) and buy a pair of Jessica Simpson pumps. Maybe it's just me, though. If you haven't seen the ad, check it out here and let us know what you think. Are the new commercials a good sales tactic to cash in on our obsession with celebrity?
And speaking of Macy's, they're having a coat sale now. Check it out!
