As I was walking to work yesterday, I literally tripped over myself when I spotted this in a store window: Dora the Explorer perfume. Say what?!
Like most moms, I have a child that is obsessed with Dora the Explorer; Dora sneakers, Dora backpack, Dora books, Dora magazine–it’s never-ending. Any time I see Dora the Explorer, I immediately think, “My daughter will love that.” And normally, if it’s reasonably priced, I’ll buy it for her and she’ll be overjoyed simply at the site of Dora’s face. Except this time I had to think: do I really want to buy my 2-year-old daughter Dora the Explorer perfume?
I decided no, but that didn’t stop me from going back to the store after work and testing it out. So what does Dora smell like? The scent I tested was very light and citrusy. After a few seconds, I could barely smell it anymore.
So I’m curious–would you buy cartoon-branded perfume for your daughter? At what age would you let her wear it? If you think it’s totally cool for little girls to wear perfume–or you want to try it yourself–here are three other Dora scents you might consider, plus a Cinderella perfume, a Sleeping Beauty perfume and a Beauty and the Beast perfume. Apparently, there’s a huge market full of character perfume I had no idea about until yesterday.
