Curly-haired girls, this one is for you! In honor of Dove‘s latest campaign called #LoveYourCurls, you can now download curly-haired emojis to use instead of the typical straight-haired ones.
“Emojis are becoming an important way for people to express themselves,” said, Sali A. Tagliamonte, a linguistics professor at the University of Toronto who is work on the Dove campaign. “Imagine if you didn’t have words or symbols that looked like you — you would feel that you were underrepresented. So emojis that are reflective of a person’s identity are really important to them, just as our language is emblematic of who we are.
This one goes out to all the curly girls.

“Even though one in three women in the U.S. have curly hair, and 74 percent of Americans use emojis on a daily basis, there remained no representation for curly hair on the official Unicode Emoji keyboard — this didn’t feel right to us,” said Rob Candelino, vice president of hair care at Unilever, Dove’s parent company. “In today’s increasingly social and digital world, we’re proud to finally offer curly girls emojis to express themselves and help them see accurate reflections of their hair — and most importantly, continue encouraging all women to #LoveYourCurls!”
