Eco-Chic: Hardware Hangbags Offer A Fashionable Alternative To Canvas Sacks
January 8, 2008
What: Hardware Handbag Shopper Tote, $95
Why: As an editor, I receive a lot of free goodies to try and review. Some are great, others not, and most fall somewhere in between. Here at SheFinds, we only recommend the stuff we really adore, so when I received this tote from Hardware hangbags the day I was leaving for a Christmas trip, I decided to put it to the ultimate test.
The mission: This bag needed to serve as a bag for the flight, a bag I could take to dinner, and a beach bag. The complications: I was traveling with my wild toddler, a gal who loves books and music and shoes and, most of all, eating, so the bag would need to fit everything I needed for the trip yet not weigh a so much my shoulder would break.
Amazingly, this eco-chic bag went above and beyond what I expected. Made from tough nylon and featuring cool recyled steel handles (no, they won't pinch your skin), I was able to stash everything I needed in the roomy interior while still keeping essentials easy to reach in the multiple side pockets. For the nights out, I could quickly wipe off any sand or spills with a wet cloth, and the slick design looked good enough to take to a restaurant. The bag itself weighs almost nothing despite those slick steel handles, so you can really load it up with anything you need and not worry about weight. And even my Louis Vuitton-toting mother-in-law complemented its look. Sure, to hit a really slick bar, you'd probably want a smaller clutch, but for the basic vacation or for running around town or to work, this multi-tasking bag stands and delivers.
