Talk show host, actor, Emmy-winner; what more could Ellen DeGeneres do? Well, the comedienne exclusively told WWD that she will be creating her own lifestyle brand, ‘E.D.’ Named after Portia de Rossi‘s nickname for her, DeGeneres’s line will sell everything from fashion, home goods and even items for cats and dogs. E.D. is set to launch with a holiday line designed for gift-giving by late October/early November.
DeGeneres calls this a new phase in her life, one that will last longer than her talk show host days. “I’m not trying to launch a little boutique situation,” she told WWD. She’s recruited people like J.Cristopher Burch of Burch Creative Capital, Marisa Gardini, chief officer of Isaac Mizrahi, Michael Francis, chief global brand officer of DreamWorks and Janet Grove, chief executive officer of Macy’s Merchandising group. We’re pretty sure this A-list team will help make sure the brand sticks around for a long time.
Though the gift-oriented collection, featuring home decor, will launch just in time for the holidays, the rest of the brand will debut next spring. We can already tell that DeGeneres’s brand will be a hit, seeing as all of America loves her, but we can’t help to think about the competition between her, Martha Stewart and Gwyneth Paltrow. Do you think Ellen’s brand will stand up against these two? Comments below!
