According Wikipedia (where I get all my info, duh!), espadrilles are defined as “casual flats” made with a cotton upper and rope sole. Well, turn that definition on it’s head! Christian Louboutin, Jimmy Choo and other luxury footwear designers have gotten their hands on the classic shoe this season, and the result is anything BUT casual cotton. Take Valentino’s black lace version, or Jimmy Choo’s bejeweled pair, or Louboutin’s embroidered “loafer” version. Click through the slideshow above for these barely recognizable embellished espadrilles.
