Some of you might remember when Eugenia Kim launched a shoe collection back in 2003, others of you might not. But just like that old saying goes, “the past is the past.” What matters now is that Kim is back at it for 2014. The hat designer is set to debut her new shoe line at NYFW next month. And since celebs like Kim Kardashian, Jennifer Aniston and Rachel Zoe are already obsessed with her hats, they must be flipping out over this news of her shoe collex!
According to Kim, the collection is inspired by the dark side of 70’s rock ‘n roll (think David Bowie and model/designer Anita Pallenberg). The shoes include styles with blocky platforms, lower heels, mink fur, pearls and ostrich feathers. So basically, a rockstar’s dressing room circa 1978. But that’s not Kim’s only influence. The designer is taking what she learned from her first footwear line and making sure she doesn’t repeat the same mistakes. While she didn’t have the ability to meet demand back in the early 2000’s, Kim is more than prepared this go-round. She’s also studied up on production and learned the ins and outs of the shoe biz. Oh, and she’s working with the same factory that manufactures Manolos and Louboutins. Sounds like this chick did her homework!
And she’s not stopping at shoes. Kim wants to expand to her company into a full-blown accessories brand. So handbags and jewelry must be up next! Click the slideshow to see the sketches of Eugenia Kim’s shoe collection, prices range from $535 to $1,095.
