And in today’s collab news that no one saw coming, WWD is reporting that actress Eva Mendes is working on a namesake collection for New York & Co. You know, the mall store that you probably haven’t gone to in years (or ever)? Yeah, that one. Well soon, you’ll have a reason to hit it up.
Of the collab, Eva said “I have a ton of ideas. [The project] is taking up all my time, but in the best way possible. Everything I see is a possible design. My mind is consumed by it.” Her counterparts at New York & Co. are just as excited about the partnership. Greg Scott, the CEO of New York & Co. added, “We have some big aspirations for this brand. We hope [Eva] attracts new customers. This is our first big collaboration. It’s a real turning point for us.”
Eva by Eva Mendes will consist of day-to-night dresses, accessories and pants and jeans, which are New York & Co.’s signature. The collection will be priced 10 to 15 percent higher because they’ll use special fabrics.
So, can Eva Mendes make New York & Co. cool? Only time will tell.
