Even If You Like Routine, Here's Proof That Mixing It Up Makes You Even Happier
May 9, 2016
Some people do their best when they have a routine to follow. If they know what to do and when and how to do it–they thrive. The routine gives them the peace of mind not to worry that they’re going to forget or miss something.
If that all rings a bell for you, you’re like most women. In fact, according to a recent study of 1,000 women conducted by Marshalls, 89% of women have a daily routine and 83% of them feel that it makes their lives run more smoothly. BUT–and here’s the catch–a whopping 46% of those women feel like the routine can be monotonous, and 92% of women are open to trying something new. The payoff? When they mix up their routine, 77% feel happy or excited.
So, what have we learned? While it’s beneficial to have a routine, it’s absolutely necessary (for your mental health and happiness, at the very least!) to shake things up occasionally.
Need some ideas? According to the survey, shopping at one of your favorite clothing stores was the #1 result (23%). Marshalls also says that things like trying a new beauty technique/product or new home décor, was also found to make women happier.
Marshalls is also launching a live stream series with digital influencers like Teni Panosian of MissMaven.com to reveal how they are shaking things up. Tune in to Teni’s Facebook page on May 11 at 3pm for the first one!
So–will you try something new or stick to your normal routine today?
