Want to experience the essence of New York Fashion Week but don’t think you’ll ever make it to Bryant Park? The Rachel Zoe Project’s token fashion minion Brad pretty much sums it up: “You start the day wearing a pom-pom hat and end the night at a party with Lindsay Lohan.” That’s how Fashion Week went for Rach and Brad — they show-hopped, taking in Rag & Bone and Matthew Williamson, got sneak peeks at Diane Von Furstenberg’s and Marchesa’s collections, and went to “Fashion Church,” i.e. a private meeting with Giorgio Armani himself, to dish about Anne Hathaway’s Oscar dress. (Want to know how the whole taffeta train debacle plays out? Spoiler alert here!)
Rachel made a lot of sweeping “every girl” statements this episode. Leather leggings are apparently the “next ‘it’ look that every girl has to have.” I’m not so sure I “have to have” the $1,668 Rag & Bone pair, but cameo party guest Lindsay Lohan’s 6126 line makes an $98 faux pair. And speaking of faux, Rachel talked shop with the folks at QVC about launching a line of faux fur outerwear that I thought was ah-mazing. I might be able to wait for Rachel’s line to hit the airwaves, but in the meantime, I’ll be eyeing Rebecca Taylor’s awesome faux fur vest ($350).
And all-over sequins look to be a big trend. Rachel drooled over Matthew Williamson’s gold sequined column gown, eyeing it for Cameron Diaz, and made another “every girl” remark about Diane Von Furstenberg’s blue Saryk dress ($850, pictured above, available for pre-order). Can’t wait (or pay for) the DVF frock? Score an aqua blue sequined sheath for $148 at Bloomies.
