What: “Tote for Teachers” by Zac Posen and DHL
Why: Mr. Posen and DHL were already quite chummy after the designer used the worldwide shipping company to deliver a most delicate winged gown — mannequin and all — to the Fashion Week Live events in Houston and San Francisco this past March. The partnership was beneficial for both parties as Zac’s creation survived the very expensive trip that I’m sure DHL was very happy to collect on. But the pair now has a new collaboration that proves to be even more rewarding. The project aims to benefit a very important group of people: teachers.
Zac has designed this stylish, sporty messenger tote (which was unveiled at a fab party during Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week) made of fine Italian leather and produced in Tuscany along with his own line of handbags. One hundred percent of all proceeds from each limited edition, DHL-inspired red and yellow bag, (boy does Zac know how to please the sponsors), will go to TeachersCount, a non-profit that provides resources to the education community and promotes the importance of respecting teachers with their “Behind Every Famous Person is a Fabulous Teacher” campaign.
Zac’s hope is that by designing this bag he is paying a thank you to all of the teachers that encouraged his creativity along the way, and that all of the women who purchase the bag will be thinking of the special teachers that inspired their own success.
Price: $400 (But the shipping is free, of course.) Pick one up at toteforteachers.org.
