Fashion Week: BCBG MaxAzaria

Where: The Tent; Bryant Park

Goodies: Wouldn’t know. This show was a hot ticket and mine said, “STANDING.”

Celebs Spotted: The hot hunk from Sex and the City, Jason Lewis with girlfriend Rosario Dawson from the much anticipated movie musical “RENT.” Had a moment with model turned actress, James King while we both waited to be let in. Hot Tip: Stand next to a celeb and you can bypass security. The show was shockingly prompt and poor James was stuck outside with the rest of us clamoring to get in. One big difference, she had her assistant/publicist on the horn while the rest us could only hope that a smile or wink at the security guard would get us in before the show began. Don’t worry about James. She was escorted in but not before taking the time to snap a few cell phone pictures with a couple of young girls. She was gracious and of course gorgeous. I couldn’t tell what she was wearing, she was hidden under a black trench coat, but her tan patent leather heels were stunning and she’s certainly doing her Revlon contract proud.

SheFinds Respect: I expected to stand, I was prepared to stand, in fact, I would have been happy to stand on my head to get the first glimpse of BCBG MaxAzaria’s Spring 2006 Collection. What I did not expect was not to be let in at all! After checking in and getting my standing assignment, I joined the quickly moving SRO line. Someone was definitely on a mission to start this show on time. Next thing I knew, the line was roped off and closed out with 15 of us die-hards waving our invites in the air fanatically. We were soon joined by a very tardy James King. (Actually she was early if the show had been operating on Fashion Week time.) After James was escorted in, I snuck past with a couple of determined fellow writers. Luckily, no one stopped us as the show had just begun. Score another one for SheFinds moxie!

Thoughts: BCBG’s line was pure, neutral colors and flowing silhouettes. But I had a hard time imagining myself (or anyone that I know) wearing the clothes without looking like a lumpy sack of potatoes. The dresses had no waists! There were more muumuus than at a luau. One common theme that I’m noticing for Spring 2006, gold accents and colors that pop against coffee and tan colored basics. The tailored jackets are going to be a must-have when the ready-to-wear versions hit stores. And the crowd clearly loved it, they were on their feet giving a standing “O” before designer, Max Azaria hit the runway. And I was cheering right along with the crowd. Of course, I was already on my feet.
