Celebs Spotted: Are you kidding?! This show was at 9 AM.
SheFinds Respect: Check-in was smooth, probably because I arrived at 5 minutes to 9:00 after a hellish cab ride. They assigned my seat with a big “S†scrawled across my invite. For those uninitiated, this means you stand. After 30 minutes of watching the seats slowly fill and the publicists freak over the lack of attendance, I was told to take a seat. And while there were plenty available in the back rows, I channeled my inner Vogue editor, strolled across the plastic covered runway and snagged a prime front row seat. Once settled I immediately began to panic about accidentally tripping a model as the runway was about 2 inches from my feet.
Thoughts: The models were surprise! tall and rail thin, clomping to pumping music in 6 inch heels. The hair was flowing and natural, as was the make-up. Very spring, very dewy (or the glow could have just been youth, these girls looked about 15). Mastroianni’s clothes were inspired by the Greek Isles which apparently translates into “translucent tops.†It was a parade of nipples. I was more intrigued by the corner of VIP buyers from retail Mecca’s like Barney’s and Harrods’s. At first I was worried that I wouldn’t be able to gauge their reactions due to the effects of botox. But thankfully, their facial muscles were mobile and I got a pretty good idea of what ready-to-wear pieces will hit stores. They made no attempt to disguise their feelings on certain pieces. Everyone in the rows was wearing brown or tan, solidifying that brown is the new black. I was relieved that I had eschewed my uniform black for a cream Dana Buchman top and jeans. Until I realized that I wore Dana Buchman to Joanna Mastroianni when Buchman’s show was going up down the street, also at 9 AM. Eventually I’ll figure this week out.
