When Avon invited bloggers to tour their Research & Development Lab to see how sleek, frizz-free hair in intense humidity could be possible, I jumped at the chance. I have frizz-prone hair and needed to see what miracle product they were brewing up. The answer was their new Advance Techniques Lotus Shield ($9.99, down from $12).
The lightweight, leave-in serum works well on all hair types – wavy, curly, straight, ethnic – in any weather condition. By talking to doctors and other technicians, it sounded as though Lotus Shield was the ultimate breakthrough. But I had to see it for myself.
At the lab, a real woman (above, at right) had the shield applied to half of her hair and went into the ‘Humidity Room’ (a very humid steam room) for 6 minutes. Their ad model (at left) isn’t lying – the Lotus Shield worked in the lab demonstration. The product is so effective and light, you can still use your other serums, sprays, and gels with Lotus Shield. One application actually lasts 3 days (!), and even in the rain because it actually repels water.
We also tested how the shield reacts with water, by dripping water on regular paper and on paper covered by Lotus Shield. The results (above) show how the Lotus Shield works like the actual the Lotus plant – the water just beads off and isn’t absorbed. After one application, my hair – which loves to expand in the heat – remained straight and sleek all day. I’m obsessed.
