Find Out Why Everyone Wants One Of These $800 Parkas
December 12, 2014
What do Alaskan dogsled racers, Wall Street execs and your trendy friend have in common? A winter coat, specifically one from Moncler, Canada Goose or Mackage. Parkas from these brands cost anywhere between $800-$1,200, yet that doesn’t seem to be stopping people from buying them. In fact, sales of these coats continue to go up year after year.
So what’s up with the high price? Bloomberg Businessweek explains that certain details of the coat guarantee it will keep you very warm, like fleece-lined interior pockets, real coyote fur and free-range goose down. But it’s not just the functionality that has people wanting these parkas. Celebrities like Emma Stone and Drake have been spotted wearing Canada Goose, while Moncler recently tapped Pharrell and photographer Annie Leibovitz for projects.
So, while these big puffy coats might not be the most flattering silhouette, they are definitely a must-have when it comes to cold weather. And when you’re debating whether or not the price tag is worth it, just remember Polar Vortex ’14. Yeah, we thought that might change your mind. Get yours in the slideshow.
