If you’ve ever dreamt of looking or dressing like Barbie (what little girl hasn’t), you’re dreams are about to come true. This fall, Forever 21, Lord & Taylor, and Wildfox are releasing a line of Barbie inspired clothes for adults in collaboration with Mattel. According to Mattel’s senior vice president, Jessica Dunne, the company is determined to change our minds about Barbie the toy and view it as an entire brand.
The clothes won’t just be T-shirts with the word “Barbie” screenprinted on the front like you would expect from brands like F21 and Wildfox, the collaboration has truly been thought out. Although there will be t-shirts and sweatshirts, the creators of this line went back into the doll’s archives to design the clothes will represent Barbie’s most popular decades. Forever 21 will take the 90’s, Wildfox will channel the 80’s and Lord & Taylor will have more conservative looks for the 50’s and 60’s.
The 7-year-old girl inside of us all just can’t wait for the line to make its debut at Forever 21 stores on September 5. With sportswear, sleepwear, outerwear, cosmetics and accessories, the F21 collection will be the largest of the three, and everything will retail between $3.90 and $24.90 in stores and online. And yes, in true Barbie form, there will be a lot of pink.
Then 9 days later, Lord and Taylor’s Barbie-themed sleepwear will hit Lord and Taylor stores. Unfortunately, we’ll have to wait a little bit longer for Wildfox’s eighties collection of sportswear, swimwear, denim and sunglasses, because these products won’t be available until November 15th.
But, no worries, just because you’ll have to wait a little while to dress like Barbie, doesn’t mean you have to wait to see the products. We have a preview of the awesome collab right here in our slideshow. Check it out!
