Get The Look: Diane Kruger Wears Hot Pink Without Looking Like Barbie
May 25, 2010
When Diane Kruger showed up at the Cannes premiere of The Tree in a gorgeous custom Jason Wu gown, we were relieved. Finally, someone wore hot pink in a totally grown-up, non teenybopper way. Kruger is always chic – and our great fashion role model – so we’ve compiled a few rules to pulling off the eye-catching look.
Rule 1: Invest in a head-turning dress that can be worn day or night.
Rule 2: Pair a black frilly top with a hot pink skirt for the perfect going-on outfit.
Start with a simple, slightly embellished black top like this pretty Sweet Pea 9 Tiered Mesh Tank ($48).
We love the Monrow Panel Skirt ($84.50, down from $169.00) – the black zippers are fun, and the short skirt is definitely an attention-grabber.
Rule 3: A simple white tank makes even the hottest pinks cool for casual daytime or weekend looks.
Pima Cotton Double Scoop Neck Tank ($33) is a good starting point for the look.
We are obsessed with the color and flared style of these Elizabeth and James Flare shorts ($225) – the flare is super flattering.
Rule 4: Pair a loose fitting pocket tee with dark denim shorts for a great weekend/summer look.
This Splendid Vintage Whisper Ash tee ($52) is a great color – plus the deep V, rolled sleeves and little pocket are very cool.
We love these VOLCOM Revolver Women’s Shorts ($45.99) – the rolled-up style is huge this year.
Rule 5: If you’re feeling pink-shy, try adding hot pink accessories instead.
These pretty Juicy Couture Tuxedo Aviator Sunglasses ($98) are just the right amount of pink – wear them with pretty much any outfit for an added pop of color.
When paired with a crisp white blouse or dress, this Nine West Neon Skinny Belt ($28) is office-appropriate. The perfect way to show your fun fashion sense at work.
