Giuliana Rancic Blames 'Editing' For The Zendaya Incident On TODAY
April 6, 2015
Giuliana Rancic just appeared on the TODAY show this morning to plug her book and discuss rumors about her weight and that Fashion Police/Zendaya scandal.
Speaking out on the Zendaya incident, Rancic said her original remarks were hippie-based, saying, “I made peace signs, I used the word ‘Bohemian’ twice,” but that those lines were cut from the show for time, leaving a seemingly racist remark about marijuana use that “some people were offended by.” Really, Giuliana? You’re blaming editing?! This is a totally different response than the one Giuliana had offered in her original video message, where the apologetic E! correspondent had said, “I have learned it is not my intent that matters, it’s the result.” That video was well-received and even earned her forgiveness from Zendaya herself–so why back track now?
Giuliana said she wanted to wait until the media hype over the incident had calmed down to finally tell her side of the story, but I think her talking about the incident again will do more bad than good. Expect more headlines on this story today–and not necessarily favorable ones for Guiliana.
When asked by Savannah Guthrie if she would be returning to Fashion Police when it resumes in the fall, Giuliana shrugged, “We’ll see.” The not-so-enthusiastic response is telling–it seems unlikely that the E! correspondent will appear on the show when it returns from hiatus in September. It’s unclear from the clip whether she left the show or was ousted by producers.
Watch the interview and decide for yourself whether this appearance will help or hurt Giuliana’s image:
