Trend Alert: Fashionistas Are Going Native

I've got an inside line on what's going to be the new hawtness for spring…and it's tribal fashions. Somewhere in between National Geographic and that faded arm-band tattoo on your local hipster, the bold patterns, embellishments, and colors of tribal art are going to be showing up on Spring's gauzy tops and linen sun dresses. What can you do to beat the curve now and be cutting edge? Start incorporating some tribal accessories into your look. The attention-grabbing adornments are perfect statement pieces–and an easy update for even the most conservative LBD.

Here are some of my favorites:

1) At $1550, this necklace from Vivre is a bank-breaker. However, its ornate bead and crystal work make it a stand-out in any wardrobe.  Who needs to eat anyhow?

2) Simple yet sophisticated, Forever 21 turns out a reasonably priced jewel ($6.80).

3) Elizabeth Cole, a fabulously talented up-and-coming jewelry designer, creates an ecclectic tusk bracelet and necklace series ($198-$203) that mixes flea market chic with tribal influences.

4) Miguel Asis' more urbane take on the trend lends itself to cocktail hour and more formal wear, like this gold-filled beaded cuff bracelet ($520).
