Good Question: Pegah Anvarian
May 11, 2007
From a SheFinds Reader: There was this amazing convertible poncho on the Today Show the other day. It could be a poncho, halter shirt, skirt or dress. I can’t find it anywhere. Can you help?
The Answer: If ever there were a versatile design, it’s the convertible poncho made by Pegah Anvarian. Although not a household name yet, Ms. Anvarian is known for drapey, sexy designs, which are sold by the likes of Henri Bendel and the exclusive Talulah G. A featured designer at this spring’s Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week, Anvarian has developed a very creative body of work. As the story goes (every up and coming designer has to have a story, no?), the former fashion stylist was shopping for a music video job and happened upon some snazzy textiles. As she began draping, sewing and hand-dying the fabric, voila! The Pegah Anvarian Collection was born. The cashmere/jersey blend poncho is available in teal, black, red, rust, light blue, light yellow, mint, and peach. It’s hard to find a place to buy online, but you can contact the company at pegah.us.
