From A SheFinds Reader: My sister’s 21st birthday is in two weeks!!! There are some magazine clutches out there, but they’re really not nice enough. I need something kitsch, something fabulous!

The Answer: It’s a magazine! It’s a clutch! No, it’s a magazine clutch! What a great gift idea. Popular in the 70’s, these handbags have made a resurgence thanks to Carrie Bradshaw. “Sex and the City” may have left the airwaves, but its influence lingers on in syndication. As the story goes, the ingenious handbags are an Italian invention to deter thieves. Purse snatchers would see them and think they were magazines, not handbags, and thus pass them by. There are some nice vintage specimens out there such as the Primo, found at Fashion Dig. Find contemporary versions at snazzygirl.com or melroxx.com, which makes them from old metro magazines.
