Summer is officially over and the days of balmy beach weather are coming to a close. For me, one of the best parts of going to the beach s the effortless beach hair that came with it. My curls, laden with salt water and humidity, reach a peak level of sexy, tousled bounce.
One would think that there’s no way to duplicate the look sans surf and sun, but the salon-secret way of doing it is alarmingly easy. If you have straight or wavy hair, simply mix four teaspoons sea salt with two cups water in a spray bottle, allow the salt to dissolve and shake the mixture. Apply to damp hair, flip your head over and scrunch. You'll be sporting beach waves in no time.
If you have curly hair you’ll need to put in a lot more effort. Blow-dry hair straight and wrap 1-inch pieces around a 1-1 ½ inch barrel curling iron, waiting about 5-10 seconds for the curl to set just lightly. Spray the sea salt mixture on your finished hair and gently brush out the curls with your fingers, creating a wave effect. I’ve used this on my own curly hair, and the look is fabulous.
