High End Diaper Cream: Is It Really Worth It?

I used to be a nanny in the 90s, and as far as I was aware, the only diaper cream decision was between Balmex or Desitin. But now, as with everything else, there are oodles of ointments–almost every baby brand out there seems to offer one–and they range drastically in price. Some are organic, some are unscented, some are creamy, some are paste…but if you look closely, you’ll see most of them are zinc oxide-based. So my approach is this: if I’m looking for the casual comfort slather of day to day changing, the less expensive brands serve me just fine. However, I’ll admit I have a jar of the really pricey stuff for when there’s a really angry rash going, because it does seem to heal it miraculously fast.

What about you? Do you covet the costly creams, or stick to the standbys?

Balmex ($13)

Triple Paste ($25)
